CaroMont Health’s Discover YOU!, located at 420 East Central Ave, in Mount Holly, NC, opened its doors on January 19, 2013. This innovative and interactive destination—for children and adults—is an informative, engaging, inspirational and fun experience aimed to empower visitors to take charge of their health, and ultimately, their lives.
“About 70 percent of chronic diseases like diabetes, coronary artery disease and hypertension are preventable through lifestyle choices alone,” said Andrea Serra, Vice President of Wellness Development. “What an incredible influence each of us has on our own health and what a great opportunity we have to make it better! Discover YOU! allows visitors to see how good health doesn’t just happen; it can be created by each one of us.”
How care is delivered is transforming before our eyes, and challenging health care providers to get much more proactive in caring for patients—before they get sick! CaroMont Health is proud to be one of the first to greet this challenge by taking health and wellness outside the walls of the hospital and physician offices and into the community. Every day people make many lifestyle choices that impact them in so many ways—health, quality of life, work and play. Discover YOU! is one creative way that CaroMont can help people make these choices good ones!

Presented by CaroMont Health, the 5,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility offers 17 interactive health promotion exhibits. Each station takes learning about your body to a whole new level through a greater awareness about how a person’s daily choices can directly impact their health and well-being. But, it doesn’t stop here. After experiencing Discover YOU!, visitors will not only have an increased awareness and motivation to enhance their health, but also learn how to turn this knowledge into the power to develop healthy habits that will sustain a healthy lifestyle.

Nutrition is an important focus of Discover YOU! After all, you are what you eat! The healthy eating exhibits provide visitors information about portion control, how to purchase fresh, local food and even a glimpse of what some of your favorite restaurants are putting on your plate.
Lub-dup…lub-dup…lub-dup. Your heart beats about 100,000 times in one day and about 35 million times in a year. The ten-foot, three-dimensional heart is the focal point of DISCOVER YOU! This interactive exhibit offers visitors a glimpse inside a working heart, including the electrical system, blood flow and heart muscles. Visitors can grab the handlebars in front of this impressive exhibit and the heart will take the actual beat of your heart – filling the entire space with the sound of YOUR heartbeat!
